Light Soldier (15)

The light soldier is the weakest unit that you have to part with stuff for. They have low health, a light laser weapon and are not really powerful. However they are reasonably fast, they are cheap and they are the fastest way to build up a last stand or early attack force. If your enemy has little stuff left and no central thing, then light soldiers can be used to mop up his remaining buildings.

Infantry (50)

Infantry are posers with machineguns mounted on their wrists. They also have a bash attack which is quite nifty in close quarters. However they do have a tendency to get their heads blown off and attract flies (a flamesoldier buddy told me they smell funny too). A couple of these units can take out lines of soldiers, and their range is enough to pick off or slow down flame soldiers.

Shotgun Soldier (20)

The shotgun soldier is lightly armed and is very similar to the machinegun soldier below. The main difference is the rate of fire and amount of health (the shotgun soldier has slightly less). You can use these units as a kind of cheap shrieker that shoots, and they are pretty useful for taking out flamesoldiers.

Machinegun Soldier (25)

The machine gun soldier is a useful stopgap when it comes to base defence. Because you can build a few of them quickly, they can kill off invaders using a steamroller effect. They excel against Medics (in groups of three) and can also be used to block lines of advance for tanks while you get some heavier units in to offer support.

Flame Soldier (50)

These dudes are awesome. Cheap and nasty. A Flame soldier can take out just about any unit and building, friend and foe alike. They work on a natural culling process - thinning out their own ranks with a bit of the ol' napalm enema. They can hit air units, but be aware of their short range. Try 'em - you'll like 'em.
